For this residential project, BUNKER Studio transformed a historic Tuscan farmhouse into a contemporary home that preserves the authenticity of its architecture while introducing a bold and expressive new identity. The result is a seamless dialogue between tradition and modern living.
Rather than approaching the renovation as a purely conservative restoration, the project embraces contrast as a design language. Historic architectural elements coexist with contemporary interventions, creating interiors that feel both timeless and unexpected.
Colour plays a fundamental architectural role throughout the house. Deep blue surfaces define perspectives, connect different rooms and become a visual thread that guides the experience of the interiors, giving the project a strong and recognisable identity.
A carefully curated selection of iconic furniture, vintage pieces and bespoke elements enriches every space. Each object was chosen not only for its aesthetic value but also for its ability to contribute to the overall narrative of the house.
Art is treated as an integral part of the architecture rather than a decorative addition. Contemporary artworks, sculptural objects and collectible design pieces establish a continuous dialogue with the interiors, reinforcing the relationship between space, material and creativity.
The interiors are completed with a selection of celebrated design pieces, including Gio Ponti’s Superleggera chair, Franco Albini’s Margherita armchair, and several objects sourced from Nero Design Gallery in Arezzo, renowned for its collection of modern design and contemporary art. The result is an interior that celebrates freedom over convention, proving that elegance can coexist with irony, eclecticism and emotion. More than a renovation, the apartment represents BUNKER Studio’s design philosophy: creating spaces that are authentic, memorable and deeply connected to the people who live in them.
Natural materials, handcrafted finishes and custom details balance the expressive use of colour, creating warm and sophisticated interiors that respect the rural character of the Tuscan landscape while embracing a distinctly contemporary vision.
Although every room has its own atmosphere and personality, the project is unified by a coherent architectural language. Carefully composed proportions, recurring materials and a strong visual rhythm create continuity throughout the entire home.
