Published by DECO Germany, this feature explores one of BUNKER Studio’s earliest residential projects: a historic Florentine apartment transformed into a vibrant and deeply personal living space.

Rather than following conventional interior design rules, the project embraces contrast, individuality and storytelling. Colour becomes the primary design tool, while vintage furniture, contemporary artworks, custom-made pieces and collected objects coexist in a carefully balanced composition. Every room is conceived as an evolving narrative in which architecture provides the framework and the furnishings express the personality of those who inhabit it.

Throughout the apartment, historical architectural elements are preserved and reinterpreted through bold interventions. Deep reds, saturated blues and rich botanical tones create unexpected dialogues with neutral surfaces, while handcrafted furniture and bespoke details reinforce the project’s unique identity. Every object has been selected not simply for its aesthetic value, but for its ability to contribute to the atmosphere and tell a story.

The interiors are completed with a selection of celebrated design pieces, including Gio Ponti’s Superleggera chair, Franco Albini’s Margherita armchair, and several objects sourced from Nero Design Gallery in Arezzo, renowned for its collection of modern design and contemporary art. The result is an interior that celebrates freedom over convention, proving that elegance can coexist with irony, eclecticism and emotion. More than a renovation, the apartment represents BUNKER Studio’s design philosophy: creating spaces that are authentic, memorable and deeply connected to the people who live in them.
