Time leaves its mark. It wears away surfaces, alters matter, transforms forms, and continually reshapes their meaning. Yet it is precisely within this process of constant change that new possibilities, new images, and new forms of beauty can emerge. From this tension comes Ruggine Blu, an exhibition that explores the relationship between transformation, memory, and regeneration through a dialogue between diverse artistic practices.
The title brings together two elements that appear to be opposites, yet are deeply complementary. Rust represents time acting upon matter, leaving visible traces of its passage. It symbolizes inevitable transformation, erosion, and continuous change. Blue, by contrast, evokes an immaterial and contemplative dimension: the sky, the sea, dreams, depth, and infinity. The encounter between these two forces creates a space for reflection on how change does not necessarily imply loss, but can instead become an opportunity for growth and renewal.
The works on view explore these themes through diverse artistic languages and sensibilities. Painting, photography, ceramics, and experimental visual practices create a journey in which time is not portrayed as a destructive force, but as an agent capable of shaping identities, images, and narratives. Surfaces become sites of accumulation, erasure, and rewriting; figures emerge and dissolve; matter transforms while retaining the visible traces of its past.
La mostra mette in dialogo ricerche accomunate da una forte attenzione al processo. Alcuni lavori riflettono sulla costruzione e sulla frammentazione dell’immagine contemporanea, altri indagano il rapporto tra memoria personale e rappresentazione, mentre altri ancora si confrontano con la dimensione simbolica della materia e della forma. Ciò che accomuna le opere è la capacità di abitare uno spazio intermedio, sospeso tra ciò che è stato e ciò che sta diventando.
The exhibition brings together artistic practices united by a strong focus on process. Some works reflect on the construction and fragmentation of the contemporary image, others explore the relationship between personal memory and representation, while others engage with the symbolic dimension of matter and form. What unites them is their ability to inhabit an intermediate space, suspended between what has been and what is still becoming.
Ruggine Blu ultimately proposes a reflection on change as an inevitable and essential condition of existence.
